The comments are broken!

I can't believe it - I found a post where the author is effectively begging for a Touchstone-esque solution, but the comment system is broken so I can't tell him we exist.

Read all about it - Maybe one of you can find a way to ping him for us!

This is also an interesting post about RSS -> SMS. I actually had this thought once - but I realized that there was too much garbage on RSS to just blindly SMS it all to someone! But perhaps, with Touchstone sitting in the mix, we could set up a visualization that sent the most important updates to SMS. With 'importance' being determined by all the smart attention engine work we're doing!

*Goes back to working on the all new Touchstone 'Status Map' feature*

About a year ago I was looking for an application that would send RSS to SMS alerts. I couldn't find anything at the time, so I wrote one myself (zaptxt.com). I had exactly the same concern you have. I didn't want to receive an SMS alert every time a feed got updated, I wanted to be notified for "important" posts only. So I added RSS filtering and alert scheduling mechanisms. Now, I can say send me SMS (or email) alerts if a new post contains certain keywords/phrases and between 8AM and 10 PM only. I don't want my phone to beep at night. I store all new RSS posts that meet my search criteria but only send them out during the specified time.

Heya Eduard, thanks for dropping by!

This sounds great! Like I said in the post, I thought SMS would be cumbersome and expensive, but it sounds like you have solved most of those problems with your tool.

Well done - and thanks for dropping by!
