APML Conversation heats up
Chris Abraham has posted a piece over on Marketing Conversations. He writes...
An APML is meta-meta. It doesn't care too much about your subscriptions (the Particls software allows you to import an OPML file to start) but it does care about how you interact with the blogosphere implicitly. It is a little like OPML + eHarmony.Janet Johnson has responded to Chris' post with her own "I'm taking my Attention with me..." write-up. She writes:
Over time, your APML might mirror your true love interests and tastes. Your APML might know you better than your spouse! Than your very own sweet mother, even. To say nothing of yourself. You can become your very own market researcher, your own auto-pollster. Potentially, suggested Chris, people can meet and greet based on their APML.
...a great attention driven reader should make you feel like you need a tinfoil hat to protect you from its accurate mind reading powers. If folks can figure out how to truly leverage the APML, then this might just well become a reality.
I've often wished I could use my "Janet, we have book recommendations for you hereā¦" information from Amazon elsewhere online. Apparently, (with thanks to
the heads up from the folks over at Marketing Conversation) now I can.
The Faraday Media team are happy to see that references to APML, Engagd and Particls are a daily occurrence now. We are glad that our work, and the work of the APML Workgroup is striking a cord with the community.

Hey Chris,
Thanks for the comment and the post.
I wonder, I was trying to check out root.net (from your chart of APML participants), and either their server was down this morning, or they're not in any intuitive place (clearly I'm trying the wrong URL)... and online coverage seemed old.
Are they still around? Can you point me to them?
Curious...
Hi Janet,
I also noticed that root.net seems to be offline now - it might be dead.
I have updated the diagram on the apml.org site now and have excluded root.net for now.
Unless I hear otherwise I will assume they are offline now.
Thank you so much for the love and... attention. I also want to make sure you know that that same chart doesn't include particls yet! I am still using it -- it is pretty creepy and wonderful. I guess I am letting my inner geek come out -- I am surely not 100% marketing guy, that's for sure.
Hi Chris!
There is a new diagram now at the same address:

Thanks for spotting the errors!
Cheers,
Chris
I would like to invite you to read my comments and debate regarding your last post at

Chris
Here's a thought that I haven't worked through in my own head yet.
The APML idea is heading towards a semantic statement which packages the digital you. There is still a lot more to know about me but I can add depth to the meaning over time (right?).
I am trying to visulaise the end game here so that I can conceive the next few steps.
In parallel, there is a lot of work being done on the semantic web and semantic search etc. The combination of this with a "semantic me" (a me with digital meaning) appears to be converging on a matrix-like web environment where a digital representation of me can wonder through a fully descripted and meaningful digital landscape. Presumably to some extent it will be able transact independently of the real me.
Add this to second-life (3.0?) and hey presto "The Matix"
hmmmmmm.....the mind boggles..
